Engineering Community Resources Provide designers with guidance on how to design code-compliant and energy-efficient concrete masonry structures utilizing resources like COMcheck and allowable mass wall exemption allowed by code. Energy Efficient Concrete Masonry Structure Series Provide building inspectors, plan reviewers and inspectors with the latest information on masonry code changes. Plan Review & Building Inspector Series An educational presentation and PR campaign focused on increasing awareness of concrete masonry’s non-combustible properties and its importance in creating affordable, safe and secure structures. Fire Safety / Non-combustible Systems Programs Provide A/E/GCs with training on the latest masonry technologies (programs/apps) such as Masonry iQ, Direct Design, Ele Masonry and BIM-M to streamline and simplify designing with concrete masonry.     Machine Operators Program The AMC’s Block Machine Operators Apprentice Program is a registered apprenticeship with the US Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship and the Arizona Department of Economic Security, Office of Apprenticeship. This Apprenticeship is a three year “earn-while-you-learn” program that combines on-the-job learning, classroom instruction and hands-on skill development. Objectives include basic hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, and electrical control systems. Along with concrete masonry technology training. Applicants will be invited to attend an Apprenticeship Program Interview Night which will be held in late October or early November. Program acceptance letters will be sent out in late November or early December. See Previous Year's Winners View Now Award Criteria The criteria for projects for the Excellence in Masonry Awards is very broad: Project can be anywhere in Arizona. Can be residential, commercial, monuments/entry ways or architectural perimeter walls. Completed any time between Jan. 1, 2019 through March 31, 2024. Masonry must be a “predominant component” of the project. Simulated stone cannot exceed 25% of masonry contract value. Projects that didn’t win previously can be re-submitted, as long as they were completed between the above dates. Every jury is different! Monuments/Entryways and Architectural Perimeter Walls are brand new this year. You can show off older projects!
